“Our students love it! Every residency day, they are beside themselves. These are middle school kids, so it’s hard to get them excited about much.”

Thank you to CCP architecture and interior design students for sharing your imaginative ideas for artist live/work spaces!

Just about to wrap up our holiday card printmaking workshop at @rdgterminalmkt and head back to Fleisher to support the talented vendors and lead staff of Handmade. The craft fair at Fleisher is open till 5PM today and you can catch us next week at Reading Terminal from 12-3PM for the last free winter craft workshop of the series. Thank you to faculty members Jeff Dentz and Elaine Erne for your beautiful block designs! #MadeWithFleisher

Handmade is going strong. We are here until 5.

Our vendors are set, the cocktails are ready to be mixed, and we have the perfect tunes cued up. See you today from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for Handmade, our indoor holiday market, and the Philly Small Press Faire. @helloyowie has selected an incredible lineup of vendors and @yeahdudecomics assembled the best comic artists in Philadelphia. We still have a few spaces in our DIY gift workshops. Register at fleisher.org before they’re gone! Thanks to @laurencatwest for the poster design (and for being a vendor, too)!

Here’s a cute moment that happened Tuesday when a field trip from Andrew Jackson School stopped to chat with Bernard Collins as he was installing his Faculty Fellowship Exhibition. Come get loose with Bernard at tonight’s exhibition opening from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

After tonight’s Faculty Fellowship Exhibition opening, head up to @winwincoffeebar bar (931 Spring Garden St.) for “Powerlines” and “Boss Battle,” featuring work by Fleisher staffer Derick Jones (@skudsink) and regular screenprint studio presence Mike Romero (@yeahmikeromeo). The party starts at 10:00 p.m. and the show will be up for the rest of the month.

Still looking for a winter workshop? Lynn Denton’s six-session Gouache and Oil Pastels workshop still has some spaces open. It’s a great way to explore painting with gouache and the surprising ways in which the medium interacts with pastels. The workshop meets on Thursday afternoons February 7 to March 14. This fall, Fleisher explored creative aging through a pilot program called Ceramics: Stories for the Ages. Led by celebrated artist @kukuli.velarde, the class engaged Spanish-speaking students aged 55 and better in the Philadelphia area. Velarde sat down with us on the final day of class to reflect on what drew her to teach at Fleisher and why it's important for older adults to make art. Don’t miss an exhibition of student work at Fleisher tomorrow evening from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Many, many thanks to @lifetime_arts and @communityartsed for making this program possible!
